23rd May

Sophie has been out and about transporting and re-homing piggies this weekend and is now hopefully having a well deserved relax.

I have had several incomers two of which have needed treatment by the vet for a foot infection and a womb infection. Both girls are doing well, eating, drinking and active. I am very hopeful for the girl with the bad foot and she is really starting to come alive again and has the sweetest nature. She was very subdued and her eyes had lost all hope when she arrived. After bathing her foot today we were having a cuddle and she moved up to my face sniffing my nose and almost seemed to realise that she was safe and loved.

The little girl with the womb infection has responded well to anibiotics but unfortunately the infection has damaged a lot of the tissue around her bottom. Even though she is bright in herself we are not sure how good her prognosis may be as there has been so much tissue damage. We will do our best for her and she is on pain relief to keep her comfortable. We go back to the vets on Tuesday.

I would post pictures but they are quite graphic both sows are underweight and their infections are quite advanced.

The guinea army here have enjoyed a lovely sunny day on the grass and the lawn is now thoroughly mowed with 40 piggies having been munching!
