Sponsor a Guinea Pig (or a Bunny!)
An Ideal Gift!
Sadly, a number of the guinea pigs (and rabbits) that come into rescue cannot be rehomed for various medical / behavioural reasons, or are too old and frail to move to yet another home, and end up staying as long-term residents. We have launched a Sponsorship scheme to allow people to sponsor an animal for the year, with the funds raised going straight towards the long-term costs of keeping the pigs, medical bills etc. Just food and bedding costs per pig are £5 - £10 a month, let alone any that require medical attention, so anything you can give will be much appreciated.
If you would like to sponsor an animal, please use the 'Donate' button to donate via Paypal and we will be in touch with details of the pig you have chosen. Clicking on the 'donate' button will take you through to Paypal and we will get a notification of the donation and it will automitcally notify us of your chosen animal, and we'll take it from there. We ask for a minimum donation of £10 to sponsor an animal or a £15 for a pair for the year, but if you want to give more it will of course go to good use. In return we will send you a photo of your piggy, a fact sheet and an adoption certificate for the year. With your permission, we will add your name to the list of sponsors for your chosen animal.
In the rare cases where a pig is adopted or passes away you will be given the choice to transfer your sponsorship to another pig in need. It would make an ideal gift for a piggy lover of for someone who is unable to have a pet themselves. Please choose from the residents below:
NEW SPONSOR GUINEA PIGS! and a BUNNY!
Due to the success of our sponsor scheme, and the sad loss of a few of our long-term residents last year, we have added some new guineas (and a bunny!) to the Sponsor list below.
Little Miss Muffet
Miss Muffet came in to rescue with 3 of her litter mates and sadly has major problems with her teeth (see pics below) that require surgery in order for her to survive and be pain-free. Due to these dental issues we feel it is not fair to rehome Miss Muffet as she is likely to need on-going medical care and special feeding. She needs an expensive operation to sort her teeth out and give her a chance to have a good life, so all sponsor donations will go directly towards this.
Current Sponsors: Sue Gilliat

Bernie
Bernie came into rescue as a baby and had been living alone. He was impossible to bond with any other boars so he has, therefore, been neutered and now lives with his lady friends. Bernie is a huge character and keeps the ladies in order!
Current Sponsors: Valerie Bale; Clare Stratford; Rachel Britton

Paddington Bear
Paddington came here from another rescue after we sadly lost the neutered boar from the big group of sows here. He was found as a stray along with two girls – luckily he had already been neutered!
Unlike some of the sponsor pigs, Paddington is not here because of long-term health problems but because he’s got an important job to do keeping the big group in order - without him they all bicker!
Paddy with his girls (he is the fat ginger pig!)
Current Sponsors: Laura Humphreys

She-Ra Princess of Power
She-Ra came in from a large group of piggies that had to be rehomed due to an unfortunate change in the owner’s circumstances. In the group was a 10 year old sow called Fizz, who due to her age remained here, and She-Ra stayed with her as a familiar face for Fizz. Sadly Fizz passed away last summer but She-Ra has remained here as she is used to living in a large space / group and doesn’t do well when paired with a smaller group or partner. She is a gorgeous girl and happy here.

Ginger
Ginger is a young sow who was born in rescue to a sow who arrived in poor condition and pregnant. Ginger was 1 of a litter of 4 and sadly 2 died when they were only a few weeks old - possibly a genetic problem as they are satins. Ginger cannot be rehomed in case she develops similar problems so will remain here. Ginger lives in a big group of piggies with Bernie (below).
Current Sponsors: Christine McDougal;

The Fonze
The Fonze is a black rex boar who came in for re-homing and luckily was able to be bonded with Zippy, one of our existing sponsor pigs (below). The two of them are like an old married (boar!) couple, the occasional difference of opinion but on the whole, they rub along together well and it means that Zippy at last has a permanent cage mate.
Current Sponsors: Susan Booth

Zephyr
Zephyr came in an assorted box of piggies, in very poor condition. Although only a baby herself (approximately 10 weeks old or less on arrival) there is every chance she is pregnant. Her hair is growing back and she is getting on ok, but she will remain here on pregnancy watch until we know for sure. She is available for short-term sponsorship as she needs to remain here for 10 weeks on pregnancy watch : if you would like to sponsor her we will let you know if she is re-homed and you will be able to transfer your sponsorship to another piggy.
Current Sponsors: Joanne Garvie;

Zippy was found dumped in a Layby with no food or water in the snow. Luckily a passer-by heard squeaking and discovered the cat carrier he was dumped in. On arrival Zippy was mal-nourished a weak but went on to make a full recovery and has remained here as a permanent resident, and is employed as 'Uncle Pig' to any baby boars that need him!
Current Sponsors: Beth Dennis; Christine McDougal; Claire Morris; Glynis; Debbie Moore; Laura Hammersley; Andree Weymouth; Helen Lambert; Sally Moore

£10 per yearKiki
Kiki is about 2 years old and came in with a group of pigs which had sadly been allowed to in-breed. Kiki was pregnant on arrival and had a healthy litter which were succesfully rehomed, but as she herself is in-bred and only has one eye, she has remained in our care as a long-term resident.
Current Sponsors: Lauren Dennis; Sue Gilliat; Dawn Quinlivan (In Memory of Eddie); Millie and Nichola Pascoe

Cherelle
Cherelle is a lovely girl but her hair loss is a hormonal issue and nothing the vet has tried seems to be working so far. She's fine in herself but cant really rehomed a hairless guinea! She was rescued from an elderly gentleman after he died but had not had much in the way of food or care and was very underweight and pregnant.
Current Sponsors: Chris Davison; Ruth Wilding; Sarah Dennis; Freya Edwards

Sponsor Cherelle £10 per year
PinBall and Wizard
Pinball and Wizard were part of a large rescue intake. Unfortunately Pinball has slight brain-damage which means he has difficulty with his balance, and while he is happy in himself it is unfair to move him to new surroundings as he would not travel well. Wizard is his buddy and they live happily as a pair.
Current Sponsors: Julie King; Valerie Bale; Laura Hammersley; Olwen

Poppy and Daisy
Poppy and Daisy are two beautiful satin ladies who came in from poor conditions and heavily pregnant. They have now littered safely but due to the OD risk of Satin piggies and the rough time they have had previously being over-bred, they will remain with us for long-term care.
Current Sponsors: Wiebke Thomas - In loving memory of Daisy / Dizzy; Ruth Lupton; Caitlin Dennehy

£15 per year (pair)Fanny Adams and Splodge
Fanny Adams has her own story to tell (see left hand links!), as she came into rescue in an awful state and she's had a long and slow road to recovery. Thankfully she is now putting on weight and condition. Her pal Splodge has similarly blossomed, and the two make a lovely pair but due to long-term medical problems need to remain in our care.
Current Sponsors: Suzanne Aspden; Tammi Goulds; Ruth Brimley; Joe Oakley; Rebecca Rennison - in loving memory of Crunchie Dude; Deborah Taylor

Randolph needed an operation but his owners couldn't afford the 150 and puting him to sleep was out of the question - he's only just a year old. He is living with Poppy bunny (below).
Current Sponsors: Mandy Runciman

Poor Poppy has mouth issues and needs her teeth clipped every 6 weeks - highly unlikely that anyone will take on a bunny with vets fees to be paid in the current climate. Both are lovely bunnies and are in love with each other but I kind of figure they will be here for ever.

£10 per yearIn Memory of our Sponsor Piggies past
Beefy our sponsor piggy sadly passed away in January. His 'wife' Baggy was lucky to be offered a home by one of her sponsors and is now paired up with another neutered rescue boar.
Update: Baggy now called Pandora has settled in very well and is enjoying her new home.
Fizz
*Unfortunately Fizz sadly passed away earlier this month very suddenly. She was only a young pig but sadly she had such a bad start in life that there's no telling what damage she had inside. I have contacted her sponsors and another piggy will be added to the sponsor scheme in her place *
Fizz came into rescue from appalling conditions and had been very neglected by her previous owner and lacking in food and water. She was pregnant on arrival and despite her poor condition, amazingly gave birth to 3 healthy babies who have all been rehomed, but given her previous hardship she has remained here as a long-term resident.
Captain Jack Sparrow
Update - Sadly Captain Jack passed away last week at the grand old age of 6, after a short illness. I will be contacting his sponsors to ask them to transfer their sponsorship to another piggy on the scheme. Captain Jack will be much missed by all of us.
Captain Jack came into rescue at 5 years old because his brother had died and his owners did not want any more guineas. He didn't have a name on arrival, so was given an extra special name to make up for 5 years without one! He will live out his retirement here with us
